This will be a special year as we return to the beautiful 12th Century Abbey of Rolduc in Kerkrade, The Netherlands. The conference begins Friday 21 June and runs through Tuesday 25 June during which time volunteers will be needed – including a few for setup on Wednesday and Thursday. With room rates in the 35€ to 65€ ($40 to $75) and low cost meals, it promises to be an inexpensive one to attend. It is accessible from at least three international airports, one in the Netherlands (Amsterdam) as well as nearby airports in Germany and Belgium. You can find details on the conference, the venue, pictures, registration fees and accommodation information on this conference website.
Volunteers attend the conference for $100 (90 €) performing roughly 14 conference hours of work. The initial registration fee is $200 (180 €) although half ($100 or 90 €) of the fee is returned after the duties are completed. This fee covers the conference attendance, all receptions and the dream ball. Volunteers must arrange for their own travel as well as lodging and meals, CE fees, recordings, and any special events they wish to attend.
The duties are consolidated into 4 categories: Registration/Info Desk; Room Monitor; and Audio Visual Support and Art Exhibition.
Once you apply you will be sent a letter of acceptance if there is a position open. That letter will have a deadline in it by which you must register and pay the deeply discounted volunteer which is non-refundable after that deadline (except in extreme circumstances; also an administrative fee may apply). The deadline is typically about 60 days or so but shortened as we get closer to conference time and the ultimate deadline of 15 March when we must finish the schedule.
Apply early since acceptance is determined by a combination of application date and available positions. If positions fill, a waiting list will be maintained and those on that list will be offered a position if an accepted volunteer does not register or cancels.
