Call for Volunteers

The Venue is the spectacular Ashland Hills Hotel and Suites in beautiful Ashland Oregon, at the base of the Siskiyou mountains, just north of the border with California. The hotel is nestled on a quiet side of town, just 3 miles from downtown Ashland and 19 miles from the International Medford Airport with direct connections to many US western hubs (see Travel). It is a 14-acre property, where you can rest in the intimate courtyard patio and pool or relax in the open spaces surrounded by nature and inspiring views of the surrounding Ashland Hills.  We have reserved a block of rooms and suites (many of which have private balconies) at discounted conference rates in the $100 to $115 range, but book early since room choice and availability is limited. We will be offering IASD group buffet lunch gatherings, with standard, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free selections available. Dinners can be ordered at the Luna CafĂ© (limited seating) or at the many local Ashland restaurants.

Volunteers attend the conference, which includes all video/audio recordings, by working about half the conference session hours (roughly 14 hours). Volunteers must arrange for their own travel as well as lodging and meals, CE fees and any separately priced special events they wish to attend.

Once you apply you will be sent a letter of acceptance if there is a position open. That letter will have a deadline in it by which you must register and pay the deeply discounted volunteer rate of $150 which is non-refundable after that deadline (the initial registration fee is $200 of which $50 is reimbursed when duties are completed). The deadline is typically about 60 to 90 days or so after approval but is shortened as we get closer to conference time with an ultimate deadline of 1 March when we must finish the schedule. Apply early, since acceptance is determined by a combination of application date and available positions. If positions fill, a waiting list will be maintained and those on that list will be offered a position if an accepted volunteer does not register or cancels.

The duties are consolidated into 4 categories: Registration/Info Desk, Room Monitor, Audio-Visual Support and Art Exhibition.  If you wish to volunteer, click here to apply:
