We recommend flying into D\u00fcsseldorf or Amsterdam for the easiest connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>At D\u00fcsseldorf Airport<\/strong> you take a train at the airport to D\u00fcsseldorf Hbf (main station). There, take the train to Herzogenrath (departs every hour). From Herzogenrath train station it\u2019s a 10 minute taxi or Uber ride. June is considered one of the best months to visit The Netherlands. Rainfall is moderate, the humidity is between 60 and 80 percent. It\u2019s breezy, sometimes warm, \u2018light-jacket\u2019 weather. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>But the Dutch weather is mercurial, so we recommend packing layers<\/strong>. That is 6 hours ahead of the US East Coast, and 9 hours ahead of the US West Coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another thing: Europe uses the 24 hour clock in writing. So if for example a train departs at 4pm, it will say 16:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, in conversation 4pm is simply &#8216;four o&#8217;clock&#8217; (and yes, they all speak English).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile is-vertically-aligned-top\" style=\"grid-template-columns:25% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/iasdconferences.org\/2024\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/15money.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-255 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iasdconferences.org\/2024\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/15money.png 500w, https:\/\/iasdconferences.org\/2024\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/15money-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/iasdconferences.org\/2024\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/15money-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 85vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>What about money?<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Visa, Mastercard, and American Express are accepted widely in The Netherlands.<\/strong> Taxis, coffee places, stores, restaurants, and at the bar in Rolduc: the Dutch are happy to accept plastic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still, we recommend to have some euros handy just in case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You can get Euros from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.locatiewijzer.geldmaat.nl\/en\/\">any ATM<\/a><\/strong> (<em>betaalautomaat<\/em> or <em>geldmaat<\/em>), to be found at European airports, banks, and in most grocery stores. The costs are about \u20ac 4,50 per transaction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Another option is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gwktravelex.nl\/en\/stores\/\">GWK Travelex office<\/a><\/strong>, at the airport or most large train stations. Charges range from \u20ac3,95 to \u20ac7,50 per transaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: While the Dutch love card payments, the<strong> Belgians and Germans are more cash focused<\/strong>.
