Eligibility

  • Original artwork about or inspired by dreams that occurred during sleep
  • The inspiration can be from your own dream or someone else's dream
  • Jurors are open-minded about how the art relates to dream content, as long as the work was inspired in some fashion by a dream that occurred during sleep
  • You do not need to be an IASD member or conference attendee to participate

Media

  • All two-dimensional and multi-dimensional media will be considered, including painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, video and installation art
  • Traditional and digital creative practices are welcome
  • Artists are required to describe their process and specify whether artificial intelligence (AI) was used, and if so, in what capacity
  • Artworks that are unusually large or require extensive installation may not be accepted, but will be considered
Performance art cannot be accepted. Performance artists may consider submitting a proposal for a special event on the conference program. The deadline for these submissions is December 18, 2026, on the Call for Presentations page.

Criteria Considered by the Jury

  • Professional quality
  • Dream connection: related to dreams or dreaming that occurred during sleep. If the art was not directly inspired by a specific dream, documentation must be provided showing a clear connection between the work and the dream
  • Complete, clear supporting documents: incomplete documentation or vague, unclear statements may disqualify an entry
  • Quality digital files: out-of-focus, poorly composed, or difficult-to-see images will be rejected
  • Artwork deemed by the jurors to be offensive, discriminatory, or otherwise inappropriate may be declined

All work accepted for the show will be added to the IASD online dream art galleries, unless you specifically request that we not do so.

Art Awards

Cash awards will be offered for works chosen from among those accepted for display at the conference. You can indicate that you do not want your works considered for the awards.
