Proceed as Follows

For each submission, there is to be only one Lead Presenter; the submission will be filed under that name. The Lead Presenter must be involved in the presentation as a chair, moderator, or presenter and is responsible for organizing the information from other participants into the submission and communicating with all presenters on the submission. If you are submitting on behalf of a Lead Presenter, and are not actively involved in presenting, then you are called the Assister on the form. If you are the Assister, please provide both your email address and phone number as well as that of the Lead Presenter so that we can communicate with you both.

Carefully review your completed form before clicking the SUBMIT button. Once you have submitted, you will NOT be able to retrieve the form for editing. If you later want to make a change, you will have to resubmit the proposal in its entirety unless changes are minor enough to be added manually (contact program@asdreams.org to request a minor change).

STEP #3 - Register

All presenters must register for the conference and pay the appropriate fees. Once you submit your presentation, please go to the conference registration page (Registration opens 1 October).

Note the presenter discount, and that all presenters must register by 1 March 2027 to remain on the program, after which time we must finalize the schedule and remove or replace unregistered presenters. All registrations for approved presenters are non-refundable after 1 March 2027 (refunds prior to that date are subject to administrative fees). We highly recommend you register early for your lodging to ensure availability within the discounted room block at the conference site. If you register for the conference before receiving your acceptance, and your submission is subsequently NOT accepted and you therefore don’t wish to attend the conference, you will be given a full refund of conference-related fees if you notify us within 1 week of that acceptance status notification.

NOTICES ABOUT THIS YEAR’S CONFERENCE

ONSITE VS REMOTE PRESENTATIONS – This year the conference will again be onsite since we are not equipped for a hybrid of virtual attendees and presenters. If it is not at all possible for you to present onsite but wish to present over Zoom, you may submit your presentation for consideration (and check the Virtual box accordingly) in the event the technology and schedule permits. Understand that due to the uncertainty, the remote option would lower your chances of approval over that of an onsite presentation. Note that remote presentations are only for talks and NOT for workshop or Morning Dream Groups. If we are able to schedule you for a remote presentation a Zoom Host will operate the session onsite and you will be able to be seen by and converse with the audience, but you will not see them. You will also be recorded and will receive access to all of the conference Audio/Video recordings.

LINGUISTIC RESTRICTIONS – All presentations are to be delivered in International English.

ETHICS AND PRINCIPLES OF COMMUNITY. All presenters are asked to have read and agreed to adhere to the IASD Ethics Statement as well as to honor the IASD Principles of Community, both of which can be accessed here http://www.asdreams.org/ethics-and-confidentiality/. In particular, presenters are requested to support an approach to dreamwork and dream sharing that respects the dreamer’s dignity and integrity, and which recognizes the dreamer as the decision-maker regarding the significance of the dream. We respect the presentation of cultural approaches which may treat dreams differently if identified as such. Presenters are also expected to maintain professional ethics in the conference sessions and events, thus refraining from direct solicitation or persuasion for economic or self-aggrandizement such as the sale or overt advertising of books or services during a session (listing as part of the session references is permissible if it is a source of the information provided).

Continuing Education (CE) – The International Association for the Study of Dreams (IASD) is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The International Association for the Study of Dreams (IASD) maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

We plan to provide CEs this year for selected proposals. The presentations selected for CE credit will qualify based on APA guidelines for continuing education in psychology aimed at post-licensure training for clinical psychologists and mental health professionals. IASD seeks to promote diversity in its continuing education course offerings and presenter selection based on culture, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, and spiritual practices. The requirements for presenting a CE qualified presentation are included in the guidelines below.

Please Note: Many state boards for master’s-level licensed mental health professionals (such as LMFTs, LCSWs, and LPCs) accept CE credits from APA-approved sponsors. Participants are advised to verify acceptance with their specific state licensing board.

GUIDELINES FOR PREPARATION

Note that your proposal must be submitted in its entirety using the online Submission Form and cannot be edited once submitted (it can only be re-submitted). The easiest way to accomplish this on your initial attempt is to collect and prepare your lengthier content (listed below) ahead of time so you are ready to insert it (or copy/paste) into the online form. Be sure to note and respect the word limits.

STYLE GUIDE – in preparing Summaries, Abstracts and Bios please follow these guidelines:

Titles in title case: capitalize 1^st letters of all words (except prepositions, articles, or conjunctions).
Do not use all CAPS anywhere except for acronyms.
Write all in full sentences rather than phrases.
Italicize titles of journals and books; do not underline or set within quotes.

MULTI-PRESENTER SUBMISSIONS – It is important for you to collect ALL content, schedule limitation, and AV requirement information from all your presenters before filling out the form.

BIOGRAPHIES – We have a 60-word maximum for bio all presenters. Include the following: name, credentials/certiﬁcations (e.g., MA, PhD, etc.), city and country of residence, and a brief biography noting formal training (required for workshops), related career positions, publications, books, webpages, and/or a significant award if applicable. Note that only ONE bio per presenter will be posted so be sure they are consistent across multiple submissions.

PRESENTATION ABSTRACTS (500-word maximum) include the following:

Presenter(s) and co-authors’ names and credentials (i.e., any co-authors including those not attending the conference)
Country, state/province and city of residence
The presentation title as listed above;
Introduction including the basis for the content (e.g., named theory, research, established practice, etc.);
Description of the content as it is to be presented. Note: (1) Panel abstracts must include in abstracts and summaries information that represents all of the presentations in the session; (2) Multi-Symposia will NOT submit overarching summaries or abstracts, but each presenter will submit a summary and abstract of their part of the presentation; (3) Workshop and Morning Dream Group abstracts MUST contain the following: the specific techniques that will be utilized; activities that participants will engage in; and who is considered the “ultimate authority” on the personal meaning of the dream (see Ethics statement).
At the top note [not to publish] in brackets ONLY if you do not wish us to post the abstract.

SELECTING A TRACK Use these guidelines when selecting a track for placement of your presentation:

Clinical Approaches: use of dreamwork in therapeutic settings with clients and patients
Culture and History: dreamwork practices related to learned beliefs, values, customs of a historical or modern society
Dreams and the Arts : the relation of dreams and dreaming to any of the modes of artistic expression.
Dreams and Ethnicity: exploring dreams through traditional worldviews and experiences with dreams in relation to one’s self-identified ethnicity
Dreams and Health: dreaming in relation to body and physiological health
Dreamwork Practices: methods for exploring meaning and personal insights that dream images and emotions evoke
Extraordinary, Psi, and Lucid Dreams – unusual, impactful, profound, and insightful dream experiences that may fall into any of these categories
Spirituality and Philosophy: related to the nature of existence and sense of connection to something sacred or greater than oneself
Research: use of scientific and empirical methods to understand dreaming
Theory: researched hypothetical explanations of observed facts, events, and behaviors

CE Qualifications

Before asking that your proposal be considered for CEs read this:

APA Continuing Education in psychology is focused on post-licensure training for clinical psychologists and mental health professionals. Content must be empirically established and supported. It must have direct relevance to the acquisition of new skills appropriate for and that build upon a completed doctoral program for psychologists and/or the continuing postgraduate and professional education of licensed mental health or health care professionals. It must be aimed at skills that keep pace with emerging issues, evolving innovations, ethics and technologies in order to increase competencies for improving services to the public and enhancing the knowledge of professional practitioners.

There will be a checkbox in the submission form to indicate your interest in having your proposal considered for CEs and willingness to prepare the necessary information (below) to APA standards. Pre-selection will be made by the CE committee in February on the basis of the above APA criteria, presenters’ expertise on the topic being proposed, and other practical considerations. Selected presenters will be requested to complete a secondary online form with the following required information:

Three measurable learning objectives per presentation describing what attendees will do or will be able to do after attending. The objectives need to use specific action verbs required by the APA. Examples include the following: list, describe, recite, write, identify, compute, discuss, explain, predict, apply, demonstrate, prepare, use, analyze, design, select, utilize, compile, create, plan, revise, assess, compare, rate, or critique.
A minimum of three (3) current references (within the last 10 years) in APA-style citation format. References should provide evidence-based/empirical support from contemporary scientific literature (e.g. peer-reviewed journals). For the application of assessment or intervention methods, references cannot be those primarily aimed at promoting the approach.

Bookstore

It is not permitted to sell your books or products in the session spaces – they must be listed to be sold through the online bookstore. The online bookstore will be accessible online prior to and during the conference (plans to open mid-March). It can accommodate books or products that are sold online and through online distributors. Onsite, there will be a presenter book display table where you may display a sample copy. Please list up to 4 books using the Bookstore Submission Form if you want them to be included.

Handouts

We are not able to print handouts for you, but you may certainly provide copies. It is not possible to tell how many will be in your session, so we suggest approximately 50 copies to account for 250 to 300 conference participants divided in attendance between six simultaneous sessions.
